ABORTION REGULATION IN TENNESSEE!

Because of a radical 4-1 ruling by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 2000, Tennessee now boasts a broader right to abortion than that recognized by Roe v. Wade or the U.S. Constitution. Basic commonsense protections passed previously by BOTH houses of the Tennessee General Assembly were struck down as violating this newly discovered “right to abortion” within the Tennessee Constitution. After a nine year struggle by Tennessee's

pro-life movement to force a House floor vote on the proposed constitutional amendment, the House finally joined the state Senate in overwhelmingly passing SJR 127 in 2009.

As with every proposed amendment to the Tennessee Constitution, the resolution must now be passed by the General Assembly for a second time requiring a 2/3 super majority in this legislative session. Only then can it be placed on the ballot in 2014 so the citizens of our state can FINALLY have their say.

Join Tennessee Right to Life in urging our legislators to once again overwhelmingly pass SJR 127 during 2011 so that you canhave your say in 2014.
