Pro-Life Group Calls on Daschle to
Bring up Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
August 30, 2002—Washington, DC: Concerned Women for America of South Dakota is launching a new TV commercial in South Dakota today encouraging Sen. Tom Daschle's constituents to call on him to schedule a vote on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, which already passed in the House.
"Tom Daschle holds the reins on the Senate calendar," said Sandy Rios, president of Concerned Women for America. "The Partial Birth Abortion Ban has passed in the Senate twice, and we feel it will easily pass again if Sen. Daschle listens to his constituents and schedules a vote."
The "Daschle's Choice" ad will run from August 26 through September 6 on broadcast and cable television in South Dakota. The ad notes that Sen. Daschle has voted twice to ban partial birth abortion.
"This is a message from Concerned Women for America of South Dakota, and I think the rest of South Dakota is going to respond," said Linda Schauer, director of CWA of South Dakota. "Tom Daschle has voted for this ban in the past - and that made the people of South Dakota very happy. All we're asking is that he use the power of his leadership position to do what's right again, and schedule a vote."
