(Nashville, Tuesday, July 06, 2010) The state's leading pro-life
organization is targeting the race to fill the open seat in state House
district 57, endorsing candidate Robert Fields for election in the Republican
primary on August 5.
"House District 57 has a proud legacy of sending proven pro-life
leaders to the state House, legislators who not only vote pro-life but who
have used their position to effectively advance the cause of life" said
Brian
Harris,
president of Tennessee Right to Life.
"Mae Beavers and
Susan Lynn have both served the pro-life movement with distinction and have
been real leaders in efforts to restore protection for Tennessee's unborn children," said
Harris. "There's only one candidate running for the seat who
meets that same level of commitment and Tennessee Right to Life urges pro-life voters to actively work
for the election of Robert Fields for the state House."
Fields was endorsed by
members of the group's political action committee following review of
candidate surveys and interviews with interested candidates.
"Without question,
Robert Fields is the only candidate whose position is 100% pro-life and the
only candidate committed to advocating each pro-life position consistently
and without compromise," said Trecia Dillingham, president of Wilson County Right to Life.
"With so much at stake in the next General Assembly, we can't afford
to begin electing candidates with less than total support for the protection
of innocent human life," Dillingham said.
Early voting for the August 5 primary runs July 16-31. For more
